Get Rid of a Cold Sore Quickly
We’ve all experienced having cold sores in our lives. They are not really painful but are quite annoying and sucks to have when you are in a social setting with other people. On top of that there is no cold sore remedy that has been proven to work all the time. Some types of treatments work well for some people, but not as well for others. When treating your cold sore you want to make sure that you are not just looking for what works, but also what is safe. There are some cold sore treatments that are effective in the short term, but may have long term effects you don’t want.
Let’s go over a few of these types of remedies you should stay away from. Number one on my list is the use of bleach to treat a cold sore. This is pretty ridiculous if you think about it, because bleach is composed of chemicals that are toxic to your body. If you put bleach anywhere on your body including a cold sore, you can have even worst side effects occur.
Next on my list is putting ice on a cold sore to freeze it off, than putting salt or toothpaste to dry it. Now these one doesn’t seem to bad but you have to consider that putting something cold, like ice, on your skin can cause some frostbite which can damage your skin permanently. Toothpaste is also not made to put on your skin and can cause additional damage.
To deal with a cold sore properly you need to be informed that the cause of it is a virus. So to effective treatment lies in using cold sore remedies that attack the root of the cause; the virus. So lets move onto cold sore remedies that attack the virus. These remedies are not only effective but are also safe.
My favorite natural cold sore treatments are lemon balm, cat’s claw, and also peppermint. All these ingredients can be found in any health or grocery store and are over the counter. They are also known to have anti-viral properties that work well attacking the cold sore virus.
On top of this these herbs have also been known to have other healthy properties such as lemon balm as a relaxer, peppermint good for you digestive system, and cats claw strengthening your immune system. So not only do you get a safe and effective cold sore remedy, but these additional bonuses.
The easiest way to use these natural herbs to treat a cold sore is to make a tea out of them. Now not everyone likes to drink tea, so you can also buy these in the form of a capsule. Both ways work just as effective. If you are drinking the tea make a few cups a day until the cold sore is gone. If you are taking capsules than having around 3 a day until your cold sore disappears is recommended.
